On the Hill: Senate Back, Focus on HHS Spending Bill

The Senate is back in session this week and will continue to focus on consideration of the spending bill that appropriates funding for the Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education departments for fiscal year 2019.

Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), head of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, indicated he hopes to pass the combined spending package by Labor Day weekend.

Other Committee Activity 

The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will hold a hearing Aug. 21 to examine the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ efforts to fight Medicaid fraud and over-payments.
