On Oct. 13, the Biden administration extended the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) through Jan. 11, 2023, and, consistent with its promise of a 60-day notice for ending the PHE, would have to notify providers by Nov. 11 that the PHE will end after the January date.
Meanwhile, congressional lawmakers remain in their home states and districts to campaign ahead of the Nov. 8 midterm elections. The House remains in a district work period through the Veteran’s Day holiday and is scheduled to return Monday, Nov. 14. The Senate also is expected to return Nov. 14.
