On the Hill: Association Responds to Drug Shortage RFI

On July 6, America’s Essential Hospitals submitted a response on behalf of its members to the request for information on drug shortages issued last month by Republican committee leaders Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Mike Crapo (R-Idaho).

The association’s response rebutted claims that the 340B Drug Pricing Program contributes to drug shortages and underscored the ways the program supports patient care.

Committee Activity This Week

Both chambers are back from the July Fourth holiday and have just three weeks left before the extended August recess.

On the calendar this week, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions will hold a hearing July 11, at 10 am ET, titled, “Superbugs: The Impact of Antimicrobial Resistance on Modern Medicine.”

It has been reported the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health on July 13 will mark up a bill to reauthorize the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act, although there has not yet been a formal notice of this meeting.
