HHS Extends Data Submission Deadline for Targeted Relief Payments

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) extended the deadline for hospitals to submit data to inform how the agency will target COVID-19 provider relief funds to hospitals. Hospitals now have until 3 pm ET on April 25 to submit the requested data through their individualized portals.

America’s Essential Hospitals sent an April 22 letter asking HHS to provide more information and a deadline extension for the authentication portal. While we appreciate the agency extended the deadline, we continue to encourage HHS to provide additional information about submitting the data and the full intent of the collection.

Earlier this week, HHS requested the information to determine how to allocate $10 billion to hospitals in areas most impacted by COVID-19. This is a portion of the $100 billion relief fund authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help hospitals and other providers incurring health care expenses and lost revenue related to the pandemic

Members are encouraged to visit the America’s Essential Hospitals coronavirus resource page for more information about the outbreak.
