The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded July 9, $198 million in new exchange grants. The grants were distributed among six states: Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. The funds will be used for various activities that ensure exchanges function for consumers. For example, funds may be used to improve information technology systems for the web-based exchanges, to develop in-person assistance programs or to fund exchange-related marketing and education. More information is available from the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight website.
