The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $12 million to 32 teaching health centers nationwide to train more than 300 primary care residents. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) administered the grants, which were authorized by the teaching health center graduate medical education payment program in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This doubles the number of residents to be trained during the 2013–2014 academic year, compared with the previous academic year.
