Republican infighting continued during August recess, as the Senate Conservatives Fund announced plans to actively campaign against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for not supporting calls to defund the Affordable Care Act at all costs, including shutting down the government. Republicans in the debate are split between full repeal and delaying all or parts of the law. Some Republicans acknowledge that full repeal is unlikely and that seeking a delay is more realistic, after the Obama administration earlier this summer delayed the employer mandate for one year.
