America’s Essential hospitals urged Congress to support the use of telehealth services as a way to provide access to care to the most vulnerable populations during a July 28 briefing. More than 100 congressional staff attended an association-sponsored telehealth briefing to hear experts from UC Davis Health System, University of Mississippi Medical Center, University of Utah Health Care, and University of Virginia Health. Panelists discussed how their hospitals are transforming health care delivery through telehealth and how changes to federal policy could impact their work. In particular, panelists commented on the importance of ensuring the sustainability of telehealth through payment parity for telehealth services and asked Congress to consider federal policies that would expand their ability to provide telehealth services.
