The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has released newly updated drug spending dashboards that include for the first time data on year-over-year price increases for individual drugs.

The interactive online dashboards show spending for drugs purchased in Medicaid and Medicare Parts B and D. The dashboards are intended to increase transparency and allow patients, providers, and researchers to better understand trends in drug spending.

CMS also updated the Part D Prescriber Public Use File (PUF), which includes summarized data on health care providers who prescribed drugs under Medicare Part D in 2016.
