The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a live webcast of the 2013 eHealth Summit Aug. 2, 9:00 am–3:30pm ET. The CMS eHealth initiatives help deliver quality care and reduce costs by aligning information technology (IT) and standards programs. Panelists will discuss potential future use of health IT as it relates to administrative simplification, privacy and security, health information exchange, and interoperability.
From 9:30 – 10:30am ET, Jason McNamara, technical director of health IT for the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, Data and Systems Group, will lead a panel discussion on state health information exchanges. Panelists include representatives from the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. Panelists will discuss CMS and state policy efforts for exchange development.
