The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced an upcoming national provider call on the five-star quality rating system for the patient satisfaction survey known as the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). This five-star rating system will be publicly reported on the Hospital Compare website beginning in April 2015. A dry run is currently ongoing, from Sept. 15 to Oct. 14, 2014. Hospitals are encouraged to view their results during this period and provide input to CMS on how to improve the disclosure of these ratings.
