CMS Seeks Input on Health Equity, Program Efficiency

On Sept. 6, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a request for information (RFI) on health care access and equity, provider experiences, and the effect of policies introduced during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

In the RFI, the agency focuses on four topic areas:

  • accessing, paying for, and utilizing health care services and related challenges;
  • understanding the experiences of health care providers, including provider well-being and distribution of health care workforce;
  • advancing health equity across CMS programs by understanding individual and community-level burdens, health-related social needs, and strategies to mitigate health inequities; and
  • understanding the effect of waivers and flexibility granted during the COVID-19 public health emergency to identify areas for improvement and opportunities to decrease burden.

CMS shared instructions to submit comments, due Nov. 4.
