CMS Resources Help Patients Transition to Marketplace Coverage

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has provided several health insurance marketplace (exchange) resources to help providers who care for patients gaining coverage through the marketplaces. A series of fact sheets are available through the health insurance marketplace website. These fact sheets cover many common questions from providers and patients about transitioning to marketplace coverage.

CMS has also established a database of qualified health plans and their customer service phone numbers. Providers can use this contact information to verify patients’ coverage and benefits.

Members of America’s Essential Hospitals may also refer to the Dec. 31, 2013 Special Update for help with problems that may arise as they process claims during the transition to marketplace coverage. Please contact Shawn Gremminger, assistant vice president for legislative affairs, at sgremminger@essentialhospitals.org or 202-585-0112 with questions.
