The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the calendar year (CY) 2014 Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) final rule Nov. 27. In the rule, CMS finalized its proposal to collapse existing levels of outpatient visit codes and replace them with a single code describing all clinic visits. However, CMS did not finalize the proposal to replace the current five levels of codes for each type of emergency department visit.
America’s Essential Hospitals will send members a detailed analysis of the final rule this week. Please contact Xiaoyi Huang, assistant vice president for policy, at xhuang@essentialhospitals.org with any questions.
