CMS Proposes Marketplace Quality Standards

On March 14, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule on health insurance marketplace (exchange) standards for 2015. In the rule, CMS proposes that each marketplace must display quality ratings on its website for each qualified health plan (QHP) by 2016. The quality rating would be based, in part, on enrollee satisfaction data. Under the proposed rule, each QHP issuer must collect enrollee satisfaction data for each QHP that has more than 500 enrollees and has been offered in a marketplace for at least one year.

America’s Essential Hospitals will provide comments on CMS’ proposal. Please contact Xiaoyi Huang, director of policy, at xhuang@essentialhospitals.org or 202.585.0127 with questions.
