The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) this week launched a new system on the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website for physicians and eligible clinicians to submit 2017 performance data.
Unlike the previous system, the new data entry system streamlines quality reporting through one portal. Eligible entities can submit data through Qualified Clinical Data Registries, qualified registries, attestation, the CMS Web Interface, or through a health IT vendor. CMS encourages those who submit data through a vendor to create a non-certified report in the QPP or Quality Reporting Document Architecture III file format and manually upload the report into the system.
The submission period for most methods runs from Jan. 2 to March 31; the submission period for groups using the CMS Web Interface runs from Jan. 22 to March 16. Eligible clinicians can view real-time initial scoring within performance categories in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System. Final scores and payment adjustments will be calculated when the submission period closes.
Clinicians can contact CMS at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1.866.288.8292 with additional questions about the new system.
