CMS To Host Call on 1115 Community Engagement Initiative

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will host an all-state call to discuss its new policy on community engagement requirements for nonelderly, nonpregnant adult Medicaid beneficiaries.

The call will take place Jan, 16 from 2:30-3:30 pm ET.

CMS announced the community engagement initiative, often referred to as work requirements, in a Jan. 11 letter to state Medicaid directors and released a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document. The initiative emphasizes state flexibility and provides guidance on what features a community engagement requirement should include for approval through a state’s section 1115 demonstration waiver.

America’s Essential Hospitals will provide a detailed Action Update on this new initiative in the coming days.

Contact Director of Policy Erin O’Malley at eomalley@essentialhospitals.org or 202.585.0127 with questions.
