The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is allowing hospitals to retroactively attest to meaningful use of electronic health record (EHR) technology as part of the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. Eligible hospitals that previously experienced difficulty attesting must contact CMS by March 15 to be eligible to receive incentive payments for the 2013 program year and avoid the 2015 payment adjustment. The previous deadline was Nov. 30, 2013. Eligible hospitals should email the following information to EH2013Extension@Provider-Resources.com, with “EH 2013 EXTENSION” in the subject link:
- CMS certification number (CCN)
- hospital name
- contact person name
- contact person email
- contact person phone
In addition, eligible professionals (EPs) now have until March 31 to attest to meaningful use for the Medicare EHR Incentive Program for the 2013 program year. The previous deadline was Feb. 28.
