The new Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Track 1+ Model, announced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), will incorporate more limited downside risk than tracks 2 or 3 of the Medicare Shared Savings Program, but sufficient financial risk to be an Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) for purposes of the Quality Payment Program (QPP).
The new Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation model aims to boost participation among small rural hospitals and other small health care practices. The agency said, starting in 2018, the new model will enable clinicians to join an Advanced APM. ACOs will be able to join the Track 1+ Model as part of the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Shared Savings Program application cycles.
America’s Essential Hospitals has established a resource page for the QPP. Visit this page for new and updated information.
