The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced June 27 a funding opportunity for demonstration ombudsman programs that will help provide Medicare-Medicaid enrollees with more person-centered, coordinated care. States can apply for the funding to develop independent demonstration ombudsman programs to support their current demonstrations through the Financial Alignment Initiative. The new programs will provide beneficiaries access to new resources and patient-centered assistance. The programs will also monitor experience of care and offer recommendations on how to improve the beneficiary experience. A total of $12 million over 3 years will be available to states through this funding opportunity. More information is available online.
