The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on March 15 announced the first round of prescription drugs for which Medicare beneficiaries will pay reduced coinsurance from April 1 – June 30, 2023.
As required by the Inflation Reduction Act, drug manufacturers that increase prices faster than the inflation rate will be required to pay rebates to Medicare. CMS’ announcement named 27 prescription drugs as some of the first rebatable drugs under the law for which beneficiaries will pay reduced coinsurance. For the 27 listed drugs, beneficiaries will pay $2 to $390 less per dose from April 1 to June 30.
