The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will accept applications for its second cohort of participants in the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) Advanced Model.
Introduced in January 2018, BPCI Advanced is a voluntary payment model under which a single bundled payment covers services furnished by various providers across care settings. Participants can earn additional payment if they reduce costs over the course of the beneficiary’s 90-day episode of care while meeting quality benchmarks.
Interested participants can find more information and download application materials from the BPCI Advanced website. Second cohort participants will start model year three, beginning on Jan. 1, 2020.
The first cohort of BPCI Advanced participants began participation on Oct. 1, 2018. CMS does not anticipate having additional enrollment periods for model years four and five.
