CMS To Accept Additional Year of Revised S-10 Worksheets

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will allow hospitals to submit revisions to Worksheet S-10 of their Medicare cost report for fiscal year (FY) 2014 by Sept. 30. The announcement comes after CMS previously opted to allow hospitals to submit revisions to their Worksheet S-10 for FY 2015.

It is important that hospitals ensure the accuracy of their Worksheet S-10 for FY 2014, as it will be used in their Medicare disproportionate share hospital (DSH) calculation for FY 2018. CMS included plans to use S-10 data for these calculations in the FY 2018 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) final rule released on Aug. 2.

A hospital’s Medicare administrative contractor must receive the revised Worksheet S-10 from the hospital no later than Sept. 30 for it to be considered. This applies only to the Worksheet S-10 and not to other worksheets included in the cost report.
