CDC Maps States’ Antibiotic Resistance Efforts

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invested $241 million to help 57 state and local health departments fight antibiotic resistance (AR) across the nation in fiscal year 2018, according to new data on the agency’s AR Investment resource page.

This page features an interactive map and downloadable fact sheets for each state and select major cities: Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia. The fact sheets describe CDC investments in laboratory and epidemiological expertise and public health innovation, and they provide updated funding amounts to state health departments, universities, and health care systems. CDC notes more than 170 state-reported successes from agency-funded AR initiatives.

The AR Investment resource page also highlights CDC’s national and global efforts to resolve AR through the agency’s AR Laboratory Network and global AR projects.
