Bipartisan House Bill Would Eliminate $16B in DSH Cuts

On April 18, four members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce introduced bipartisan legislation, the Supporting Safety Net Hospitals Act (H.R. 2665), which would eliminate $16 billion in Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) cuts in fiscal years 2024 and 2025. This constitutes two-thirds of all federal DSH dollars in those years.

Reps. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.), Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), and Michael Burgess (R-Texas) co-sponsored the bill.

In a statement, America’s Essential Hospitals praised the bill’s introduction and urged House members to safeguard health care access and lifesaving community services by supporting this legislation.
