The Partnership for Medicaid sent an April 28 letter to congressional leaders urging them to reauthorize and continue funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Co-chaired by America’s Essential Hospitals, The Partnership for Medicaid is a nationwide coalition of organizations representing doctors, health care providers, counties, labor, and health plans serving the vulnerable.

The funding authorization for CHIP is set to expire in October 2015. The coalition urged Congress to prevent this expiration because a lapse in CHIP funding could disrupt coverage for more than 12 million children in 2015.
