Association Comments on Proposed Telehealth Pilot Program

In an Aug. 29 letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), America’s Essential Hospitals expressed support for the creation of a Connected Care Pilot program to increase access to telehealth services for low-income consumers.

The letter was sent in response to a proposed rule that would invest $100 million in funding to an unspecified number of providers to defray certain costs of providing telehealth services to veterans and low-income Americans.

In its comments, the association encouraged FCC to:

  • use the Connected Care Pilot to prioritize leveraging telehealth to expand the reach of essential hospitals with a mission to care for the vulnerable; and
  • recognize the needs of communities nationwide and not limit the availability of pilot funds based on geographic factors.
