Association Asks Administration for Improved Vaccine Supply

In a March 9 letter to Bechara Choucair, MD, vaccinations coordinator for the White House COVID-19 Response Team, America’s Essential Hospitals expressed continued challenges related to vaccine supply for essential hospitals.

Essential hospitals are in the unique position to receive and administer all three of the authorized vaccines for COVID-19 (Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen). However, they continue to face uncertainty about the timing and number of doses they can expect to receive, which directly impacts their ability to schedule vaccinations.

The letter emphasized the critical role essential hospitals play in the vaccination of the health care workforce and the broader population, and asked that the administration ensure adequate vaccine supplies reach these facilities.
