America’s Essential Hospitals expressed its support for a four-year continuation of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in a June 16 letter to Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV). Rockefeller introduced legislation last week that would extend CHIP through fiscal year (FY) 2019. Funding for CHIP is currently set to expire at the end of FY 2015. As many as two million children could lose their coverage in FY 2016 if CHIP funding expires.
