The annual 340B Drug Pricing Program recertification period for hospitals is currently underway.  Hospitals must complete recertification of their compliance with all requirements of the 340B program by Sept. 9. Failure to recertify will result in removal from the program.

Authorizing officials from all hospitals should already have received an email with the information needed to recertify from the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA), which is part of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). If you did not receive this email, you can contact Lieutenant Commander Samuel N. Cardarella, RN, from OPA directly at 301.945.0930 or scardarella@hrsa.gov.

Hospitals should have the following information available to complete their recertification:

  • most recently filed cost report worksheet E, part A, line 33 – allowable disproportionate share hospital percentage
  • employer ID number (EIN)
  • the recertification user guide

Additionally, OPA has uploaded its July 8 recertification webinar and recertification best practices to its website and for public reference.

In addition to contacting OPA directly, you can refer questions to the 340B Prime Vendor Program at 888.340.2787 or ApexusAnswers@340bpvp.com, or contact Sarah Mutinsky, Washington counsel for America’s Essential Hospitals, at smutinsky@eymanlaw.com.
