$100M Announced for State Loan Repayment Program

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced $100 million in grant funding for the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA’s) State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) for state-run programs that support, recruit, and retain primary care clinicians who work in underserved communities.

Money from the American Rescue Plan will fund up to 50 awards of up to $1 million per year over the program’s four-year project period. States will not have to provide matching funds for this grant and can use up to 10 percent of the funds for administrative costs.

Applications are due April 8, 2022. The program is slated to start Sept. 1, 2022.
