America’s Essential Hospitals urges association members to sign a letter urging Congress to eliminate the devastating $8 billion cut to Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) funding scheduled for Jan. 1, 2025.
The letter asks Congress to eliminate not only the cuts scheduled for 2025, but also the remaining two years of cuts, totaling $24 billion. Essential hospital CEOs and authorized representatives can sign the letter electronically here. The association also is organizing a targeted CEO-focused fly-in, the Federal Advocacy Assembly, on Dec. 9 and 10, to urge aversion of these cuts and speak on associated policy issues in the post-election legislative session.
The legislative affairs team is coordinating a second, broader letter to Congress recapping the association’s 2024 advocacy priorities. This letter underscores outstanding requests and points of concern for essential hospitals, including association-endorsed legislation, pending waiver extensions, essential health system designation, 340B Drug Pricing Program protections, and site-neutral payment provisions. The association plans to send this letter later this week and will share it with association members.
