Warnings and precautions
Drugs such as Meloxicam could increase the risk of heart attack ("myocardial infarction") or stroke (apoplexy). The risk is all the greater the higher the doses used and the longer the treatment period.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. Do not take Meloxicam for longer than the duration prescribed for you (see section 3 "How to take Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablet? »).
If you have heart problems, if you have had a stroke or if you think you have risk factors for this type of pathology, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. For example :
- ·in case of high blood pressure (hypertension) ;
- ·in case of high blood sugar levels (diabetes) ;
- ·in case of high cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolemia) ;
- *if you smoke.
Skin reactions that can endanger the patient's life (Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome) have been reported with the use of meloxicam, initially appearing in the form of target-shaped spots or reddish circular plaques, often accompanied by central blisters on the trunk. Other symptoms to watch out for may appear such as ulcers in the mouth, throat, nose, genitals and conjunctivitis (red and swollen eyes). These skin rashes that can endanger the patient's life are often accompanied by flu-like symptoms. The rash can progress to the formation of blisters or peeling of the skin. The highest risk of developing serious skin reactions occurs during the first month of treatment. If you have developed Stevens-Johnson syndrome or Lyell syndrome with meloxicam, you should not resume treatment with meloxicam at any time. If you develop a rash or any of these skin symptoms, stop taking meloxicam, see a doctor and tell him that you are taking Mobic.
Your doctor may need to monitor the functioning of your liver and kidneys during treatment with meloxicam, so as to be sure that they are working properly.
Meloxicam is not suitable for the treatment of acute pain.
Like any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, meloxicam can mask the symptoms of an underlying infection (such as fever). Therefore, if you observe signs of infection or worsening of symptoms, consult your doctor.
If you are a woman, Meloxicam may affect your fertility. Tell your doctor if you want to conceive a child or if you have difficulties in procreating. You should therefore not take Mobic if tests on your reproductive function are being carried out.
As it may be necessary to adapt your treatment, it is important to tell your doctor before taking Meloxicam if you have :
- *history of inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis), inflammation of the stomach (gastritis) or any other digestive history such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease ;
- *high blood pressure (hypertension) ;
- *advanced age ;
- *kidney, liver or heart problems ;
- ·high blood sugar level (diabetes mellitus) ;
- *reduction in blood volume (hypovolemia) which may appear in the event of significant blood loss or burning, surgical intervention or low hydration ;
- *intolerance to certain sugars diagnosed by your doctor as this product contains lactose ;
- *high blood potassium level previously diagnosed by your doctor.
Your doctor will monitor your progress during treatment.
The use of higher doses than recommended can lead to serious risks. Therefore, do not exceed the recommended daily dose, and do not take other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) at the same time. This is especially important in elderly subjects who have a higher risk of adverse reactions.
The use of this medication is not recommended in patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome (rare hereditary diseases).
Other medicines and Meloxicam 7.5 mg, tablet
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or may be taking any other medication.
In particular, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have taken any of the following medicines :
- ·any other NSAID ;
- *medicines used to treat heart and kidney diseases ;
- *corticosteroids ;
- *anticoagulants ;
- *antiplatelet aggregants (thrombolytics) ;
- ·any diuretic medication. Your doctor will be able to monitor your kidney function if you are taking diuretics ;
- *lithium - used to treat mood disorders ;
- *methotrexate - used to treat cancers or severe uncontrolled skin diseases and active rheumatoid arthritis ;
- *selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors - used in the treatment of depression ;
- *cyclosporine - used after organ transplantation, or in severe skin diseases, in rheumatoid arthritis or nephrotic syndrome ;
- *cholestyramine - used to lower cholesterol levels ;
- ·if you are a woman and use an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD), commonly known as an IUD.
Co-administration of anti-inflammatory agents or drugs that prevent blood clotting or that break up blood clots can increase the risk of gastrointestinal ulcers, hemorrhages and damage to the gastric and intestinal mucosa. Therefore, the simultaneous administration of Meloxicam with these drugs is not recommended.
Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablet with food and drink
Not applicable.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Mobic.
If pregnancy is discovered during treatment with meloxicam, you should inform your doctor.
Do not take meloxicam no prescription if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy because it could harm your baby or cause problems during childbirth. It can cause kidney and heart problems in the unborn baby. This can have repercussions on you and your baby by promoting bleeding and leading to a later or longer delivery than expected.
You should not take meloxicam during the first 6 months of pregnancy unless it is absolutely necessary and advised by your doctor. If treatment is necessary during this period or when you are planning a pregnancy, it is recommended to take the lowest dose for the shortest possible time.
From the 20th week of pregnancy, meloxicam can cause kidney problems in the unborn baby, if taken for several days, which can lead to a low level of the amniotic fluid in which it is located (oligoamnios) or a narrowing of a blood vessel (ductus arteriosus) in the baby's heart. If a treatment lasting more than a few days is necessary, your doctor may recommend additional monitoring.
The intake of this product is not recommended in case of breastfeeding.
Driving vehicles and using machines
Meloxicam may slightly affect your ability to drive vehicles or use machines, due to the possibility of side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness and blurred vision.
If you notice such effects, do not drive or use a machine until the symptoms have disappeared. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablet contains lactose and sodium
Mobic contains lactose. If your doctor has informed you of an intolerance to certain sugars, contact him before taking Mobic.
Mobic contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per tablet, i.e. it is essentially "sodium-free".

Information for elderly people and patients with impaired liver or kidney function
In elderly subjects, the recommended dose for the long-term treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis is 7.5 mg per day. Likewise, in patients with an increased risk of adverse reactions, treatment should begin at a dosage of 7.5 mg of meloxicam per day.
In case of severe renal insufficiency and you are on dialysis, the maximum dose of Meloxicam should be 7.5 mg per day.
If you have taken more Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablet than you should
The symptoms of overdose are usually limited to lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. These symptoms are usually reversible.
However, severe overdose can lead to serious side effects (see section 4 below). Seek medical advice immediately if the prescribed dose has been exceeded.
