Three health system members of America’s Essential Hospitals this year have chosen to partner with Premier Inc. for a variety of services, including performance improvement and supply chain services, consulting, and data analysis.
Vidant Health, a 1,447-bed system serving 29 eastern North Carolina counties, is the most recent of the three to announce a partnership with Premier. Other member systems to announce partnerships this year include The University of Virginia Health System, a 600-bed academic medical center in Charlottesville, Va.; and University Health System, a nationally recognized teaching hospital and outpatient network in San Antonio.
The three partnerships follow the association’s August 2016 announcement of its own partnership with Premier. Under that agreement, which began this year, Premier became the association’s preferred group purchasing organization partner and a new corporate affiliate member, providing access to Premier’s integrated financial, operational, and clinical data and analytics, as well as the company’s supply chain and integrated pharmacy programs.
Of the new member partnerships this year, America’s Essential Hospitals President and CEO Bruce Siegel, MD, MPH, said, “Our members understand Premier leads in helping hospitals achieve better quality and affordability. It’s clear they see the value in the highly differentiated supply chain and population health management expertise Premier offers.”
