The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced state participants in the federal Housing and Services Partnership Accelerator.
The accelerator will provide technical assistance to states implementing health-related social needs services through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, such as covering housing transition services through a Medicaid Section 1115 demonstration.
The program aims to serve Medicaid beneficiaries with complex health needs who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including older adults and people with disabilities, mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and other chronic medical conditions.
Selected states include Arizona; California; Washington, D.C.; Hawaii; Maryland; Massachusetts; Minnesota; North Carolina; and Washington. To apply, states needed an approved Medicaid section 1115 demonstration or Section 1915(i) state plan amendment covering housing-related support. HHS and HUD will host a convening for participating states and other stakeholders to share lessons learned.
