Give back to the Essential Hospital Community

Volunteer with America’s Essential Hospitals

Do you want to help advance the mission of the association and its members? Would you like to broaden your professional network? Do you have topical expertise that could benefit other members? Or maybe you want to learn about health care innovations from other hospitals like yours.

You can reach all these goals by volunteering with America’s Essential Hospitals.

As a member of the essential hospitals community, we invite you to volunteer. We have opportunities for everyone, based on your interest and available time — from long-term, strategic leadership positions to short-term, project-based activities requiring as little as one hour.

Get started today by reviewing the current opportunities to the right. Check back regularly for new opportunities and watch our newsletters for calls to volunteer throughout the year.

Volunteer Structure

Governing Boards and Standing Committees

The governance structures of the association and Essential Hospitals Institute offer multiple opportunities for member volunteerism. Two-year terms on the association or Institute boards, or our political action committee board, are options. We also have standing committees for the association and the Institute — our education and research committees, for example — that offer two-year appointments, which our boards make each spring.

Ad-Hoc Volunteer Opportunities

America’s Essential Hospitals offers members a growing selection of ad-hoc volunteer opportunities. These targeted, limited-duration tasks accommodate your busy schedule and provide a rewarding and less-intensive way to give back to our member community. Ad-hoc tasks often can be completed remotely or at one-time meetings or events, and they let you leverage your existing expertise, skills, and experience.
