America’s Essential Hospitals
WASHINGTON—With the new coronavirus, COVID-19, poised to overwhelm the nation’s health care infrastructure, last night’s Senate vote on funding support is welcome and appreciated for the breathing room it gives to hospitals where resources are stretched thin. We thank congressional leaders for recognizing the support our member hospitals need during this unprecedented crisis.
Time will tell how far this funding will go and how much more our hospitals will need. We will continue to work with Congress and the administration to ensure we answer those questions and consider how to ease regulatory challenges, such as the pending Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Regulation, that would severely constrain safety-net funding just when it’s needed most.
Our hospitals stand on the front lines of this crisis and we stand with them and the people and communities they serve.
