America’s Essential Hospitals
WASHINGTON—We are extremely pleased to see Sens. Grassley and Wyden have included a repeal of Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payment cuts in their bipartisan drug pricing bill.
These damaging reductions in federal support—up to two-thirds of all Medicaid DSH funding annually over the next six years—threaten access to care for low-income, working families and others who face financial hardships. Eliminating two years of cuts would ease the uncertainty hospitals face as they consider how to meet their community’s needs and maintain access to care.
We appreciate the senators’ leadership on this issue, and we will continue to work closely with them and their Senate and House colleagues on sustainable ways to ensure all people can get the high-quality care they need.
