America’s Essential Hospitals
WASHINGTON — America’s Essential Hospitals thanks House lawmakers for voting today to continue through year’s end the moratorium on the 2 percent Medicare sequester cut and to waive the damaging PAYGO cut later this year.
These cuts would total 6 percent of federal spending vital to the work of essential hospitals as they care for underrepresented people and continue the fight against COVID-19. The pandemic and its disproportionate impact on communities of color have strained resources at our hospitals, and these cuts would add untenable financial pressure at the worst possible time.
We will continue to work with Congress to avert cuts to Medicare payments.
