America’s Essential Hospitals
WASHINGTON — Chiquita Brooks-LaSure’s extensive knowledge of, and experience with, Medicaid and Medicare make her an ideal choice to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and we support her nomination as the agency’s administrator.
Her deep expertise in Medicaid and Medicare policies and her role in advancing coverage under the Affordable Care Act would bring valuable skills and leadership to CMS at a time when access to health care is more important than ever. The damage COVID-19 has caused to health and our economy heightens the need for stable and strong coverage through public programs.
We also welcome Brooks-LaSure’s nomination due to her long-standing focus on disparities in health and health care, such as those that affect the underrepresented people our hospitals serve. Her work to combat maternal mortality and morbidity makes her well suited to meet this urgent challenge for our nation.
We urge the Senate to quickly confirm Brooks-LaSure as CMS administrator, and we look forward to working with her and her team.
