America’s Essential Hospitals
WASHINGTON—“America’s Essential Hospitals urges the Senate to act swiftly to confirm Sylvia Mathews Burwell as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Burwell’s confirmation is critical to providing a steady hand to lead this vital department through the rapid changes occurring in health care coverage and delivery.
“Burwell’s extensive management experience, in particular her role in overseeing the budgets for Medicare, Medicaid, and other entitlement programs as director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, will make her an ideal candidate to lead HHS. Her abilities to collaborate, build relationships, and deliver results will be valuable assets as the department continues to roll out the provisions of the Affordable Care Act and works to ensure access to health care services for all.
“America’s Essential Hospitals looks forward to Burwell’s confirmation and a valuable and productive relationship with her and her colleagues at HHS.”
