America’s Essential Hospitals
America’s Essential Hospitals thanks Reps. Upton and Pallone, and other members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, for setting aside changes to the 340B Drug Pricing Program as they consider 21st Century Cures.
This is a sensible approach and one that will allow all 340B stakeholders to more fully work with the committee to preserve and enhance this important program. We also appreciate that, before making this decision, the committee worked with stakeholders to respond to their concerns about the 340B proposal.
For more than two decades, the 340B program has helped low-income and other vulnerable patients access lifesaving drugs, primary care, and other vital services. It has been an effective and economical source of support for essential hospitals, as they meet their commitment to these patients in the face of significant financial challenges.
We look forward to working with the committee and others in Congress as they seek to strengthen this valuable program and provide other support for those in need.
