SESSION 1
Adaptive Leadership: Mobilizing for Change
June 13-17, 2016, Boston (held in conjunction with VITAL2016, the annual meeting of America’s Essential Hospitals, June 15-17)
During this session, participants gained a better understanding of the principles of adaptive leadership. They also devoted considerable time to learning a dynamic methodology designed to equip leaders with the strategies and tools needed to mobilize their organization to adapt and thrive in challenging environments. Participants had the opportunity to attend VITAL2016, where they networked and learned from other essential hospitals.
SESSION 2
Assessing Culture and Using the Big Levers to Move It
Oct. 26-28, 2016, Washington, DC
During this session, participants focused on the large building blocks of cultural change: communication, coaching, and management of people. Participants also explored techniques that allow leaders to effectively know and manage themselves as a foundation for knowing and managing others.
SESSION 3
Creating a Leadership Legacy and Project Review
March 2017, Washington, DC
During this session, participants shared leadership challenges and successes experienced during their project implementation. Participants also learned about the current state of affairs on Capitol Hill and attend a tutorial on effective communication and lobbying techniques in preparation for their Hill visits. Once on the Hill, fellows met with their congressional delegations to advocate on behalf of essential hospitals.
BETWEEN SESSIONS Peer-group coaching and supplemental curriculum activities were held via webinars and discussion forums.
