America’s Essential Hospitals
WASHINGTON — Sanofi’s decision to halt its illegal plan to offer rebates in the 340B Drug Pricing Program shows how a forceful federal response and vigorous advocacy by essential hospitals can combine to protect patients and preserve access to care.
We thank the Health Resources and Services Administration for acting quickly to stop the Sanofi rebate scheme and for its warnings, consistent with our recommendations to the agency, that the plan would violate federal law and threaten the drug company’s ability to participate in Medicare and Medicaid.
We call on Sanofi and other drug manufacturers to abandon their harmful policies that stand between patients and affordable health care and choose people over profits.
