America’s Essential Hospitals always has been guided by a vision of equity in health and health care. The Black Lives Matter movement has prompted institutions across the nation to re-examine their organizational practices and policies to better understand how structural racism impacts their work and to make changes that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. America’s Essential Hospitals is now holding a Combating Structural Racism Interest Group to give like-minded professionals opportunities to collaborate and access valuable tools and reference resources.
Our members will drive the interest group’s objectives and approach. Initial goals include:
- Sharing timely equity and anti-racism resources, promising practices, and policy updates.
- Facilitating peer-to-peer exchange of challenges and approaches to combating structural racism.
- Learning from experts in the field, even beyond our membership.
- Developing funded research proposals and products to promote health equity.
