Climate Resilience and Mitigation Interest Group

About the Interest group

The Climate Resilience and Mitigation Interest Group (CRMIG) will give members the opportunity to share priorities, concerns, and experiences with establishing and improving climate resilience and mitigation efforts within their hospitals and health systems.

With the support of The Kresge Foundation, the Institute published reports in 2019 and 2022 reflecting on essential hospitals’ climate resilience and mitigation efforts. The CRMIG will use  key focus areas raised in both reports as well as additional relevant themes to inform its discussions, including:

  • Funding opportunities
  • Educating leadership
  • Sustainability governance
  • Goal setting
  • Demonstrating return on investment
  • Broadcasting successful outcomes to peers
  • Promoting coalitions and partnerships with local private and public organizations to unify and expand efforts

The CRMIG will meet virtually on a monthly basis starting in January 2025. The group will cover a variety of sustainability topics with an overall goal of raising awareness, connecting, and empowering essential hospitals to mitigate climate change and build resiliency with an eye toward improving racial and economic equity.
