Several state health departments announced plans to scale back COVID-19 testing and vaccine clinics this spring.
The Illinois Department of Public Health on March 31 closed its 10 community-based testing locations, citing a large drop in demand for testing services and the anticipated end of federal funding for uninsured individuals. The state will continue to operate testing locations through federally qualified health centers and other providers. New Hampshire also closed state-run testing sites and four of its seven mobile vaccine sites on March 31.
Similarly, Vermont closed vaccine registration through the state health department, effective April 1. Instead, the state recommends that individuals get vaccinated through their health care providers, pharmacies, walk-in clinics, or other vaccination locations.
