As of June 2021, 21 states have enacted budgets for fiscal year 2022 and several include line items related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Florida, the state budget includes $326 million to continue Florida’s response efforts for COVID-19. The budget also includes an additional $208.4 million for a one-time relief payment of $1,000 to first responders.
Maryland‘s budget includes funds to support emergency grants to address substance use and mental health disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further, the budget indicates the state will fund vaccine distribution campaigns targeted at Maryland’s hardest-hit communities with assistance from community and state partners.
Washington has directed $100,000 to the state’s COVID-19 public health response account, which will be used to hire case investigators, contact tracers, public health nurses, disease intervention specialists, epidemiologists, and other positions to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19. The money also will be toward providing personal protection equipment.
