In response to rising COVID-19 cases, three states are requiring health care workers to receive a COVID-19 booster shot.
In early December, New Mexico was the first state to require those in high-risk environments, including all workers in health care and congregate care settings, to receive a booster shot by Jan. 17.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) followed suit and released an executive order requiring health care workers to receive a booster by Feb. 1.
On Jan. 6, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) released an executive order requiring long-term care facility and state hospital workers to receive booster shots by Feb. 11. At the same time, the Connecticut Hospital Association amended its vaccine requirement to include booster shots for all hospital and health system employees.
