The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced a new initiative focused on several community-wide interventions shown to improve health outcomes within five years.

The initiative, Health Impact in 5 Years, launches on Aug. 9, with an introductory web forum at 2 pm ET.

CDC will provide a list of nonclinical, cost-effective strategies and scientific evidence for the effectiveness of each one. A webinar series will highlight various organizations that have used the approaches.

The opening webinar will include presentations by John Auerbach, associate director for policy at CDC, and other health and education experts.
